choose to be better
Being Real: We are encouraged to call a spade a spade, even if this means disappointing a peer.
Strive for beauty: Functionally effective solutions are good, but we care about how well the
experience is crafted. Think of Disneyland, Nike, Airbnb, Wework, Apple: the best folks know how to
be effective, while making the experience beautiful.
Life > Work: Since we are very small, we function like a tight-knit family where we care for each
other’s work but also for each other’s lives. The journey matters as much as the destination.
Hours don’t matter, but commitment does: We are super flexible in terms of days and hours. We
hold you accountable to your word, and trust that you either stick to it or edit it proactively.
Be a student, literally: We all need to be students! Right across the team. From engineering to
product, community to classroom, we think of how we’d feel if we were students – and this reminds
us to keep learning, growing, and having fun!
Founded by two Stanford grads, we are a nimble startup headquartered in Bangalore. We are currently
building a team of passionate & talented folks from around the world. Collectively we’ve learnt & worked
at awesome environments like Harvard, MIT, Ashoka, IIT, ISB, Cult.fit, Zomato, & Truecaller to name a
few. We’re backed by leading venture capitalists Accel and Matrix to help us realise our vision!
We obsess about the culture in our classrooms. And we view our org as a large classroom, with students
learning from and helping each other. If you grab a sneak peek into our tribe, we have all sorts of people
here: humanists, tech junkies, educationists, designers & wanna be designers! Within the diversity, we
have some values that define us:
our approach
Go back to when you were growing up. What did you typically do after coming back from school?
Where did you go? Who did you meet? What did you learn? Your parents probably sent you to a bunch
of classes, initially for extracurriculars, eventually for tuitions. Great memories!
Now forward to what you’d do (or are doing already) as a 21st century parent. You’d probably want your
kids to explore their creativity, expand their curiosity, learn to communicate, build a growth mindset, and
to collaborate with peers. And you’d probably want to do all of this while working hard to achieve your
own professional goals. Schools, unfortunately, are still struggling to build a baseline academic
foundation & end up focusing on rote learning & exams. As a parent, you have the desire, but often lack
the awareness, or sometimes the ability, to bridge the gap. This is where we come in :)
We are building Openhouse because we believe that this new generation of parents need a
partner/guide who can help them raise their children better. Our first solution is a holistic learning hub.
